How did I achieve my ‘Liferay DXP 7.4 Frontend Developer Certification’ ?

Few weeks back I worked on My ‘Liferay DXP 7.4 Backend Certification’ and successfully completed the same . Continuing the Learning process I took the other available certification with Liferay this week i.e. ‘Liferay DXP 7.4 Frontend Developer Certification’ and got through it with flying colours .

Why is Liferay Certification Important ? – There are a number of reasons why I feel certification is important for a Liferay Professional . Certification demonstrates your commitment to superior professionalism, upholding industry standards, and continued learning. These merits can help boost your professional credibility and prestige within your own network, organisation , customers , and when pursuing new business opportunities or bidding on projects . Not only this but it also helps us fill some gaps , It helps us understand what topics Liferay as an organisation feels are important or essential for a Liferay professional to learn . Often it happens that we may be having good knowledge on a few topics and other topics are completely ignored , this is very normal to any professional so a certification exam gives us a better idea on what all topics we should essentially touch base upon .

Certifications as per your expertise / interests – Liferay offers separate certifications in Backend development and Frontend development . You can always choose a certification where you want to demonstrate your capability . For a Full-Stack Liferay Developer I recommend taking both . Although I feel that there should also be another certification for Architects, but as of now Liferay doesn’t offer that option .

Topics-mappings for backend certification – I have tried to organise the Snapshots of important pages in a learnings Folder structure . ( You can find them in the attached shared link )

It’s always better to give a logical milestone to the learning process and what better then getting certified in Liferay DXP , hence I decided to set a target a date and book my exam at https://www.webassessor.com/ . This helped me in terms of setting the goal and making the plan accordingly .

What is a Digital Transformation ?

What is a Digital Transformation ?

To meet changing business and market requirements, digital transformation is the process of employing digital technology to build new — or adapt current — business processes, culture, and consumer experiences. Digital transformation is the redesigning of business in the digital age. It extends beyond typical jobs such as sales, marketing, and customer service. Instead, digital transformation begins and ends with how you perceive and interact with customers.  With digital technology on our side, we have the opportunity to rethink how we do business — how we engage our customers — as we move from paper to spreadsheets to smart applications for business management.   Benefits of digital transformation
  1.     Increase customer satisfaction
  2.     Drives data based insights
  3.     Enables software monetization
  4.     Enables high-quality user experience
  5.     Encourages collaboration & increases communication
  6.     Limits human error
  7.     Encourages an environment of employee excellence
  8.     Increases operational efficiency.
How we can help in Digital Transformation At our IT services company, we recognize the importance of digital transformation, and we help our clients achieve their digital transformation goals through our expertise and services. Our team of IT professionals has extensive experience in digital transformation, and we work with our clients to develop customized digital transformation strategies tailored to their unique business needs. One way we help our clients in digital transformation is through cloud migration. We help companies move their data and applications to the cloud, enabling them to take advantage of the scalability and flexibility of cloud computing. This not only improves operational efficiency but also reduces IT costs and provides greater data security. We also help our clients with data analytics and artificial intelligence (AI) solutions. With the increasing amount of data being generated by businesses, it’s essential to have the tools and expertise to analyze and extract insights from this data. Our data analytics and AI solutions enable our clients to make informed decisions based on data-driven insights. In addition, as digital transformation opens up new chances for cyber-attacks, we aid our clients with cybersecurity solutions. We assist our clients in implementing strong cybersecurity procedures that ensure their data is secure and protected from cyber threats.

OWASP TOP 10 vulnerabilities & its mitigation .

OWASP TOP 10 vulnerabilities & its mitigation .

OWASP (also called Open Web Application Security Project) is the community in the area of web application security . Frequently it releases a list of Top 10 Security vulnerabilities which is most commonly found in web applications all around.

In this article We are going to talk about the top 10 vulnerabilities which OWASP TOP 10 2021 talks about and the mitigation plan for the same .

  • A01:2021-Broken Access Control
  • This is the NUMBER ONE vulnerability that is found quite often in web applications. The CORE idea of this vulnerability is ‘One who should have access must be the only one who must be able to access a particular resource’. Any deviation falls into this category, in other words, an unauthorized person, or role should not be able to access a particular resource. (for example by using the same URL unauthorized role/person is able to access a resource )

AFFECTED APPLICATIONS PERCENTAGE # 94 %

  • A02:2021-Cryptographic Failures This is NUMBER TWO vulnerability found in web applications . This talks about Sensitive Data Exposure, which points to the of lack of proper Security protocols in place and could lead to application at risk. This risk could be mitigated with ensuring encryption based data security at rest and in transit .
  • A03:2021-Injection This is a NUMBER THREE vulnerability in web applications . This behaviour occurs when data accepted as INPUT is unexpectedly processed as INSTRUCTIONS .Prime examples are CROSS-SITE SCRIPTING .Mitigation of this kind of vulnerability lies in neutralising the Incoming data so that it doesnt get processed . Filter and Encoding the Incoming data is an effective measure .

AFFECTED APPLICATIONS PERCENTAGE # 94 %

  • A04:2021-Insecure Design This is a new category introduced in the OWASP 2021 at NUMBER FOUR vulnerability . This touches upon and gives importance to the design phase considerations for a secure application .For example
  • a) Having a strong password policy
  • b) Proper API gateways and firewalls with considerable amount of security .
  • A05:2021-Security Misconfiguration This is a NUMBER FIVE vulnerability in web based applications . This primarily points out the misconfigurations while installations. Default configurations could be one good subcategory for this type of vulnerability .For example using default passwords of a common portal product in the market . Surprisingly OWASP Foundation indicates 90 percent of the applications were tested for some form of misconfigurations .
  • A06:2021-Vulnerable and Outdated Components This is a NUMBER SIX vulnerability . Loopholes in Installed softwares quite often poses the risk of hackers getting into your system and causing unimaginable problems . That is the reason software products companies keep testing their products against the latest vulnerabilities and continue creating security patches . The practice of getting the latest Software patches/Security patches installed should be adhered religiously . Leaders should assure that the process and people’s challenges should not allow this vulnerability .
  • A07:2021-Identification and Authentication Failures This vulnerability points out at the issue of identification failures by application . This category is still an integral part of the Top 10, but the increased availability of Authentication in standardized frameworks seems to be helping.
  • A08:2021-Software and Data Integrity Failures This category is newly introduced in 2021 . This points out the quite often problem in today’s Iterative software development. No doubt the Iterative model has empowered the projects to deliver fast but at the same time in the hurry of delivering new security issues getting introduced is also a major problem . So steps like security testing after every iteration can mitigate this vulnerability .
  • A09:2021-Security Logging and Monitoring Failures Unable to keep a watch on WHO , WHEN and from WHERE logged into our system can lead to this vulnerability . Mitigation could be broadly categorised as follows
  • a) MONITORING software installations for Audit who accessed, when assessed, from where and what resources were accessed . Also what actions were performed .
  • b) ALERTING when unexpected event happens .Like logged in from new location , odd hours
  • A10:2021-Server-Side Request Forgery This category points at vulnerability like Crafted requests with malicious intentions . Mitigation falls in having things like Allowed set of IPs / Not Allowed set of IPs to access the systems .
